Wolf Foundation summer internship stipend

We are excited to offer a stipend to current Wolf Foundation sophomores and juniors for a career-related internship in summer 2026. We want to help you gain on-the-job experience in an internship that otherwise might be unaffordable because it pays too little or saddles you with unaffordable living expenses.

The stipend will be at least $1,000 for a fulltime internship and a lower amount for parttime. Stipends will be disbursed by the end of May 2026.

Here are the eligibility rules:

  • The internship may be paid or unpaid, fulltime (35 or more hrs/week) or parttime (less than 35 hrs/week), and must last 2-4 months over summer 2026. The employer must be a legally registered business or organization, and must provide written confirmation that it has accepted the applicant for an internship.
  • Applicants must be current Wolf scholars in their sophomore or junior years and whose transcript shows a minimum 3.0 GPA in every semester since freshman year.
  • Applicants must be in "good standing" with the Wolf Foundation, meaning they never had a grant suspension, and their rosters/transcripts are up to date.
  • Applicants must fully complete this application below (which is separate from regular grant applications).
  • If awarded a stipend, recipients will be expected to return to college in Fall 2026 and renew their Wolf scholarship, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
  • After students complete their internships, we would greatly appreciate any feedback, positive or negative, about their experience and this application process, since this is our first time providing a stipend. We will prompt you for that feedback.

Our selection criteria in awarding stipends:

  • We prioritize juniors, who are closer than sophomores to the end of their college career.
  • We prioritize low-paid or low-compensated positions, which we may verify with the employer. We applaud students seeking paid internships but understand that unpaid positions can provide valuable experience, too.
  • We will give weight to applicants' description of how the internship may further their career goals.

We are thrilled you are interested in our scholarship. The amount will be $2,000 total for the 2026-27 academic year ($1,000 per semester) and will be renewable each subsequent year until you graduate, assuming you continue to meet our eligibility criteria.

Deadline: Thursday, May 15, 2026 at midnight.

Eligibility:

  1. Graduate of a School District of Philadelphia high school (with preference to citywide and neighborhood schools) or Philadelphia charter school.
  2. Philadelphia city resident.
  3. Student Aid Index amount is less than $2,000 according to the FAFSA Submission Summary or an alternative EFC calculator. (Typically this means an adjusted gross income of less than $70,000.)
  4. Neither parent/guardian attended college.
  5. Took high-school algebra and received minimum grade C.
  6. Unconditional acceptance to an accredited college/university as full-time student.
  7. Full completion of our application and submission of supporting documents by the deadline.

You will need these documents (in electronic uploadable form):

  3. Acceptance letter from your chosen college.

 Instructions:

  • Plan 20-40 minutes to complete the first-time application. If you cannot finish in one sitting, click "Save Draft" and return to finish by May 15, 2026.
  • To start the application, you first must create a Submittable account. When creating your account, you should use a personal email such as gmail or yahoo that you can control and access throughout college, and not a school or job email. The Wolf Foundation will communicate with you through this email, including delivery of funds throughout your years in college.
  • Before starting the application, you must complete one of these two steps:
  1.  For most applicants: Complete the FAFSA (here) and download the portion of the FAFSA Submission Summary that displays the SAI (Student Aid Index) ... Or
  2.  For applicants who lack Social Security Number: complete alternative EFC calculator (here).
  • On the application form, use the same email address you used for your Submittable account.
  • Be prepared to write short answers (100-150 words) to each of these questions:
  1.    Describe one personal trait that enabled you to accomplish a goal or get through a situation.
  2.    Think about a failure or a goal you did not reach; what did you learn from the experience?
  • After full completion, click "Submit" and check your email for confirmation.
